Hostelworld visits CLINK NOORD Hostel in Amsterdam
Last week we flew to Amsterdam for the opening bash of the latest addition to the Clink hostel family. The Clink NOORD building was used as a testing lab in the 1920s, so naturally the party was themed with skeletons, an alcoholic laboratory and wondrous food experiments served on petri dishes. The lab coated, goggle-speckled waiters served us Foggy Levanderium Field-estims (orange flavoured whisky and lavender), Iced Chelidoniums (boozy ice cream) fried grasshoppers (surprisingly tasty) and chocolate popcorn dipped in liquid nitrate. MIND. BLOWN!

We could have spent the entire evening pulling faces in the gif booth but the entertainment was too spectacular to pass up. The DJs played a hypnotising electro set with a light show, then they tore the place up with their insane energy and jazzy tunes. Many salsa dances later, we took to our dorms and flopped on our beds.

The building itself is monumental, stylishly transformed into an open, modern hostel with the odd authentic feature such as the dazzling stained glass window in every stairwell. It’s just 400 metres away from Amsterdam’s Centraal Station across the river, and surrounded by parkland in the buzzing Overhoeks districts, so you get the best of all worlds.

There’s also a bespoke bar with regular DJs and performances, a library, a huge plant decorated atrium and a shiny self-catered kitchen area – ideal for rustling up the odd feast with your crew. The dorms sleep 4 – 16 people all with their own en-suites, and you even get an eye mask & mini shower accessories on your arrival. Small touches always win us over 🙂
