Travelling the world is one of life’s greatest joys, but if you’re anything like me or the travelers I’ve encountered, music is just as important. If you’re the type of person who has songs constantly swirling around your head, and drums pulsing through your veins, then you’re in luck! Get ready to rock and roll into one of these killer musical hostels!
Sky Backpackers – Dublin, Ireland

How many times in your life have you been able to stay in a former recording studio used by artists such as U2, Van Morrison and Def Leppard? Sound’s crazy, but you actually can! Sky Backpackers Hostel can be exactly that when visiting Dublin. There’s always something fun going on, whether it’s free pancake night, games, or Irish dancing!
Sant Jordi Hostel Rock Palace – Barcelona, Spain

Have you ever been travelling and thought to yourself, “goodness I wish I could just jam right now”? Well sadly your instruments from home might be a little difficult to take on your trips with you. But don’t you fret (get it?) because at the incredible Sant Jordi Hostel Rock Palace, the rooms are sound-proofed and the guitar collection is calling your name! Okay, first of all the hostel is located in the heart of beautiful Edinburgh – right by Edinburgh Castle (9.8/10 location rating!) and has all the usual hostel trimmings. The artwork around the hostel is sublime, and the fireplace is warm. The old building is just brimming with character, with an awesome lounge complete with a Jukebox and piano, for when those spontaneous jam sessions take hold!

Portugal has so many fantastic hostels that you’re definitely spoilt for choice, but music lovers should definitely give Music Hall a look. Being only a short walk from Marques of Pombal Metro Station, Music Hall Lisbon Hostel is the ideal base when on holiday in Lisbon. The musical artwork will speak to your soul, the furniture is partially made from vinyl records and musical instruments, and there are common areas that are specifically made for listening to music! Casa de la Musica Hostel – Budapest, Hungary

Budapest is already known for its incredible bath parties and ruin bars, so you just know their hostels are going to be great. Casa de la Musica lives up to the hype. It’s spacious and located right near the best things to see like the famous Chain Bridge and do (and of course the best party spots) in the city. But that’s not all. The rooms are themed (some have musical twists) and the live acoustic music will soothe your soul.
Rock N Bowl – Bristol, England

Rock and roll. Rock and bowl. This hostel is located in Western England, so it’s perfect for those taking a break from the busy London life to visit Cornwall, Bath, Wales and more. Apart from all the usual features, there is an on-site bowling alley (hence the name), a night club venue for live music and dancing, karaoke facilities, pool and ping pong tables and even their own pizza joint! Bands, DJs, bowling and pizza. Win!
Generator – London, England

Generator’s London branch is spectacular. Located near the centre of everywhere you’d hope to find yourself on a trip to London, it’s massively popular with visitors. It’s close to the West End, for those itching to see a show. The bar is stocked and lively, and the hostel even has a dedicated games room. Each night the place is hopping with life and the hostel hosts regular acoustic and live music nights.
Mosaic House – Prague, Czech Republic

This one is a beauty. Mosaic house has an incredible atmosphere and loads of award-winning eco-friendly features. There are 41 private rooms with private bathrooms. The hostel has its own music bar called La Loca, and is perfect for travellers wanting a place with a party vibe. Its modern design and incredible location (10-minute walk from Prague’s Charles Bridge) mean it should be top of your list if you’re headed to Prague!
Rock&Wood – Shanghai, China

Rock and Wood is here to help you have the most fun you can whilst touring around Shanghai. The location is fantastic, and the atmosphere will help you unwind after a busy day of travelling. The hostel has a serene garden for all your relaxation needs, and best of all there’s a music lounge for you and your fellow travellers to bask in some rock and roll magic. The cheap breakfast and projector screens don’t hurt either 😉

We’ve got to include a hostel in the entertainment capital of the world! When you’re in Los Angeles, you’re never more than a short distance from a live music venue. The Hostel itself is kitted out with a retro vibe, and will keep you supremely entertained will all of the various live music, dancing and comedy shows on offer. Affordable, fun, and you can’t beat that California sunshine!
