About
Carpe Noctem – Where Solo Travelers Become Family 🌙
Forget what you know about hostels — Carpe Noctem feels more like crashing at a friend’s place than checking into accommodation. You’ll be welcomed with coffee, not a clipboard; you’ll arrive solo and leave with a crew of new travel buddies.
🕗 Reception: 8am–11pm (no check-ins outside these hours)
🚫 Groups: Max 3 people — we keep it social!
🚶♀️ Note: We’re in a heritage building on the top floor (no lift).
We’re built for social, solo travelers aged 21–45 who want connection, fun, and a true Budapest experience. Hostelworld once crowned us the Most Fun Hostel in the World — and we’re still living up to it!
Enjoy loads of free perks: proper UK tea & coffee (all day, every day), cookies, bread and eggs, Wi-Fi, lockers, padlocks, towels, hairdryers, guidebooks, and even a book exchange. No hidden fees, just good vibes.
Our cozy top-floor apartment has handmade beanbags, murals of Budapest, air-conditioned dorms with orthopaedic mattresses, and a kitchen that turns into a feast zone when we cook up our famous family dinners.
Every night brings something new — pub crawls, karaoke, live music, cheap drink nights, boat parties, bingo nights. Our English-speaking staff live here because they fell in love with the city, and they’ll make sure you do too.
📍 Location: Central but quiet, walking distance to the House of Terror, Szechenyi Baths, Basilica, and Parliament. Trams, metros, and night buses are all nearby — and we’ll happily help you find the best route in.
If you want more than just a bed — if you want laughter, friendship, and a place that feels like home — come seize the night with us at Carpe Noctem!

Hostelworld says
Hostelworld travellers have said the staff of Carpe Noctem offer "awesome off-the-beaten-track tips to explore the city and are always willing to go the extra mile to help us find something exciting to do, ensure we get proper wrecked and feed our lush hangovers". It's no wonder our users voted this hostel the most popular in Budapest at the 2011 Hoscars. This small, lively and sociable hostel offers spacious rooms in the very centre of the city, near Andrassy utca and Nyugati station - ideal for those arriving from the airport.
