Hostelworld Services Limited “JO&JOE Instagram Competition” – Terms and Conditions 

  1. Promoter: The promoter of the “JO&JOE Instagram Competition” (the “Promotion”) is Hostelworld Services Limited (the “Promoter”) company number 02841908 and registered address at One Chamberlain Square, Birmingham, B3 3AX. 
  2. How to Qualify: Entrants must 
    • Follow @hostelworld and @ joandjoe; joandjoe_roma ; joandjoe.parisgentilly 
    • Tag two friends Instagram handle in the comments 
    • Like the specified Instagram Post, between 12th August at 09:00 (GMT) and 18th August 2026 (23:59 (GMT) 

By completing these steps, Entrants have accepted these Terms and Conditions. Entrants who do not wish to accept these Terms and Conditions should not complete the above steps and should not enter this competition.  This promotion is in no way sponsored, endorsed, administered by, or associated with Instagram. 

PRIZE 

       3. The Promotion is free to enter, no purchase is necessary and the prize (“Prize”) consists of the following: 

JO&JOE Rome, Rome (Italy)  

  • One (1) night in a dormitory room 
  • One (1) person  
  • Complimentary breakfast 
  • Bike Tours with Luigi (Please note that the tour would be subject to availability and organized in advance, as it is not always available.) 

JO&JOE Paris – Gentilly, Paris (France)  

  • Three (3) nights in a dormitory 
  • One (1) person + a guest 
  • Complimentary breakfast 
  • Burger and beer for 2 people 

One (1) €50 Hostelworld voucher which will be uploaded to the Hostelworld account of the Prize Winner. 

Note – no flights or insurance are provided, the Prize Winner will be required to organise their own flights and insurance in relation to all aspects of the Prize. 

  1. By entering the Promotion, the “Entrant” agrees to be bound by these terms and conditions and agrees that the decision of the Promoter is binding and final.
  2. There will be one prize winner (the “Prize Winner”).
  3. Accommodation entitles you to one bed in a dormitory for the Prize Winner and guest of the Prize Winner in accordance with the Prize outlined under point 3 above. Unused elements of the Prize (i.e. unused accommodation, complimentary breakfast, Bike Tours with Luigi (Please note that the tour would be subject to availability and organized in advance, as it is not always available.) and Burger and beer for 2 people) may not be used at another time, the Prize must be used consecutively and elements of the Prize not used will expire, they will not be refunded or credited to the account of the Prize Winner.
  4. The Prize must be used within 6 months from the date of the notification to the Prize Winner. If a Prize is not used within this 6 month timeframe or elements of the Prize are not used consecutively, the Prize and / or unused elements of the Prize will expire. 
  5. The Prize Winner will be informed of necessary actions the Prize Winner is required to take to avail of the Prize.
  6. The Prize Winner must have an in-date passport and must have necessary visas and permissions to visit and stay in Rome (Italy) & Paris (France).
  7. All elements of the Prize are subject to availability and Hostelworld is entitled, but not obliged at its sole discretion to amend or cancel any aspect of the Prize as may be necessary, from time to time.
  8. Only entries made on the competition post on the Hostelworld Instagram page and meet the requirements outlined at point 2 will qualify.
  9. The Prize Winner will be selected by the Hostelworld social media team, who will select the Prize Winner at random.
  10. Hostelworld will contact the Prize Winner via DM on Instagram.
  11. The Prize must be claimed by the Prize Winner within seven (7) calendar days of the date of notification by Hostelworld to claim the Prize by responding to the Hostelworld DM. In the event that a Prize Winner fails to respond in writing via DM within this period, chooses not to accept the Prize, is ineligible in accordance with these Terms and Conditions or fails to duly complete, execute and return any document required by the Promoter, he/she shall be disqualified and will relinquish any right or entitlement to the Prize.
  12. The Prize can only be claimed by the Prize Winner who is notified by the Promoter in accordance with these terms. The decision of the Promoter regarding any aspect of the Promotion, including the Prize is final and binding, and no correspondence will be entered into.
  13. To facilitate the voucher transfer, the Prize Winner is required to inform the Promoter of the email address connected to their Hostelworld account. If the Prize Winner does not have a Hostelworld account, the Prize Winner may either create a Hostelworld account for the purpose of availing of the Prize or notify Hostelworld that it will not accept the Prize. The Prize is not transferable and shall not be redeemable for cash or any other monetary or non-monetary value.
  14. The Hostelworld standard terms and conditions pertaining to vouchers shall apply https://www.hostelworld.com/vouchertermsandconditions and by accepting the Prize, the Prize Winner is deemed to have accepted and agreed to be bound by the standard terms and conditions applicable to the voucher.
  15. The Prize Winner may not substitute any element of the Prize.  The Promoter is not liable for any loss, damage, or injury arising from the Prize. This exclusion extends specifically to the accommodation and the activities, which the Prize Winner acknowledges are provided by third parties (JO&JOE Rome (Italy), JO&JOE Paris – Gentilly (France), and persons engaged by them in the provision of the activities) and are not under the Promoter’s control. The Prize Winner is responsible for ensuring they possess the required physical fitness and medical clearance for the activities
  16. The Promoter shall not be responsible for any technical difficulties experienced by the Promoter, the Entrant and / or the Prize Winner in relation to this Promotion.
  17. Entrants must be aged 18 (eighteen) or over. In entering the Promotion, the Entrant does so at his/her own risk and on his/her own initiative, and is responsible for complying with local laws, to the extent any local laws apply. Entry into the Promotion may be unlawful under certain local laws and if entry in the Promotion is unlawful, the Entrant will be immediately disqualified from the Promotion. Hostelworld shall be entitled to require a Prize Winner to provide such proof of identity and other evidence as Hostelworld may reasonably require to demonstrate compliance with these Terms and Conditions 
  18. The Promotion is not open to employees or agents or the immediate family members of employees or agents of the Promoter or any affiliated companies or subsidiaries or any third parties involved in the Promotion.
  19. By entering the Promotion each Entrant agrees to allow the Promoter to use their name and nationality to be displayed as a winner on the JO&JOE Instagram Competition Following notification, the Prize Winner will be invited to voluntarily participate in such promotional activity as is reasonably requested by the Promoter, such as providing  content for  social media channels, subject to their explicit consent which may be withdrawn at any time.
  20. Each Entrant releases and holds the Promoter and its employees, agents, sub-contractors and consultants harmless from any and all losses, damages, rights, claims and actions of any kind in connection with the Promotion or resulting from acceptance, possession, or use of any Prize, including without limitation, personal injury, property damage and claims based on publicity rights, defamation, or invasion of privacy.
  21. The Promoter shall not be liable for any breach of its obligations resulting from causes beyond its reasonable control and the Promoter shall be entitled to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Promotion and these terms and conditions without liability.
  22. Personal data supplied during the course of this Promotion will only be processed as set out in the Promoter’s Promotion Privacy Notice below.
  23. These terms and conditions will be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales and the Entrant hereby agrees that for the benefit of the Promoter and without prejudice to the right of the Promoter to take proceedings before any other court of competent jurisdiction, that the courts of England and Wales shall have jurisdiction to hear and determine any suit, action or proceedings that might arise out of or in connection with these terms and conditions and for such purposes the Entrant irrevocably submits to the jurisdiction of such courts.

Hostelworld Services Limited “JO&JOE Instagram Competition” Competition Privacy Notice (the “Notice”) 

Hostelworld Services Limited (the “Company”, “we”, “us” or “our”) collects and processes personal information relating to you in connection with the Promotion entitled “JO&JOE Instagram Competition” (the “Promotion”). We do this in compliance with our obligations under applicable data protection law. This notice explains what personal data relating to you is collected, the purposes for which it is used, the third parties to whom it may be disclosed and how you can exercise your rights in relation to your personal data. This notice should be read in conjunction with the Promotion’s terms and conditions.

Personal Data Collected Prize Winner 

If you are a Prize Winner, the types of personal data relating to you that we collect and process may include 

  • if you are declared to be the winner of the Promotion in accordance with the Promotion’s terms and conditions, you will be required to provide your email address and other information necessary to provide you with the Prize. 
  • Hostelworld may need to provide details of the Prize Winner to the hostels listed in the Prize to facilitate the Prize Winner availing of the Prize. 
  • No personal data is collected from Promotion Entrants other than the Instagram handle of the Entrant liking the Hostelworld post solely on the Hostelworld Instagram, Hostelworld will not use Entrant’s Instagram handle for any purpose other than as part of the criteria to enter the Promotion. 

Purposes of Processing and Legal Bases 

  • If you are declared to be the winner of the Promotion your email address will be used for the purposes of arranging the Prize. The legal basis for this processing is that it is necessary for the performance of our contract with you. 
  • If you are declared to be the Prize Winner your name, country of residence and other content such as pictures, social media stories, and videos, may be uploaded to our website and social media sites, or may be used for our e-newsletter. The legal basis for this processing is consent, which you may withdraw at any time by emailing us at dataprotectionofficer@hostelworld.com. 

Recipients of Data 

We may disclose your personal data to third party recipients in connection with the above purposes, including: 

  • To the Prize providers to facilitate availing of the Prize; 
  • to social media service providers and other IT service providers; 
  • to social media influencers who promote the Promotion; 
  • to competent regulatory authorities and bodies as requested or required by law; and 
  • to other members of our corporate 

Retention 

We will only retain your personal data for as long as is necessary to fulfil the purpose for which it was collected or to comply with legal, regulatory or internal policy requirements and, if relevant, to deal with any claim or dispute that might arise in connection with your contract. 

Transfers Abroad 

In connection with the above we may transfer your personal data outside the European Economic Area, including to a jurisdiction which is not recognised by the European Commission as providing for an equivalent level of protection for personal data as is provided for in the European Union. If and to the extent that we do so, we will ensure that appropriate measures are in place to comply with our obligations under applicable law governing such transfers, which may include entering into a contract governing the transfer which contains the ‘standard contractual clauses’ approved for this purpose by the European Commission. Your Rights 

You have the following rights, in certain circumstances and subject to certain restrictions, in relation to your personal data: 

  • the right to access your personal data;

  • the right to object to the processing of your personal data; 
  • the right to receive your personal data, which you provided to us, in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format or to require us to transmit that data to another controller; and 
  • where our processing of your personal data is based on you having provided consent, the right to withdraw your consent to the processing at any time.
