Pension Puppy Tail is situated on Hakodate Station Front Street, just a five-minute walk from JR Hakodate Station. It offers excellent access to tourist attractions, with sightseeing bus and tram stops nearby, making it extremely convenient.

We, born and grow up in Hakodate ,we want to have a friendly relationship with our guests. We hope that guests will fully enjoy the abundant ingredients and cuisine that is full of Hakodate city. We offer it only in the room only plan.

Hakodate is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Hokkaido. With beautiful sceneries, historical buildings, hot springs, delicious food and various events constantly on offer, the city abounds with both urban charm and natural beauty.

Pension Puppy Tail is a 5-minute walk from Morning Fish Market and a 5-minute drive from Bay Area. Hakodate-yama Ropeway is also a 5-minute drive away, while the mountain's observatory can be reached within a 10-minute drive.

You can easily go to each the tourist attractions from bus terminals and trams just near JR Hakodate Station.

Morning market, Japanese restaurant and Izakaya (Japanese Style Pub), and ramen restaurant, local famous sweets shops and hamburger shops are within a 10-minute walk away.
Supermarket Maxvalu Wakamatsu is 350 meters away, a 6-minute walk away.
Lucky Pierrot Hakodate Ekimae store (opposite Hakodate Morning Market) is a 6-minute walk away.
The drug store (Tsuruha Drug Hakodate Wakamatsu ) is about 5 minutes on foot. Here we sell daily necessities and cosmetics in addition to medical drugs.

There is an information center next to the central mouth of JR Hakodate Station.
The information center has a town map and leaflets useful for sightseeing in Hakodate. It also sell trams, buses and a common 1 day pass, you can buy for it.
The 1-day pass of only trams are selling for 800 JPY.
Trams and buses common tickets are 1,600 JPY.

IC cards commonly used for transportation in Japan is valid for Hakodate Trams and Hakodate Buses. Suica and PASMO charged in Tokyo, Kitaca charged in Sapporo is usable for Hakodate Trams and Hakodate Buses.

Regarding the accommodation tax

Hokkaido and the City of Hakodate will impose an accommodation tax on guests staying at lodging facilities within Hakodate City beginning April 1, 2026 (Reiwa 8).

The accommodation tax is to be paid by guests staying at hotels, ryokan, simple lodging houses, and private accommodations to the lodging facility, which will then remit the tax to the City under a special collection system. Please pay the accommodation tax at the lodging facility when settling your accommodation charges.

***Property Policies & Conditions:
1. Check-in Time: from 15:00 to 22:00.
(1) Guests can leave their luggage at the front desk before 15:00. Please inform the hostel in advance.
(2) Guests arriving after 19:00 must inform the property in advance. Contact details can be found on the booking confirmation.
2. Check-out Time: until 10:00.
3. Payment: Cash (JPY) and credit card.
4. Cancellation Policy:
(1) At least 3 days advance notice before the arrival date is required.
(2) If cancelled or changed later, the balance of first night will be charged.
(3) In case of No-Show, the full balance will be charged and no refund will be given.
5. Child Policy:
(1) All children are welcome.
(2) One child from 0 to 5 years is charged JPY 1000 per person per night when using existing beds.
(3) Please mention how many children are in the booking, and their ages. For children who have no meals or bedding booked, charges will be added upon arrival.
6. Reception Hours: from 07:00 to 22:00.
7. Smoking is not allowed for the entire building.
8.Our house is a guest house.
(1) There is no kitchen.
(2) A coin-operated laundry, Shinsengumi, is located a 3-minute walk away; guests requiring laundry facilities are kindly requested to use this shop.
