It’s quite simple: We love coffee! It’s the best incentive to leave your cozy bed and it’s a perfect excuse to take a break while exploring a city (no matter what the weather). Drinking a cup of coffee isn’t just a treat, it’s social. Like hostels, coffee shops are a perfect place to meet new people, chat to friends, relax and plan new adventures.
Our Hostelworld office is in one of the most exciting cities in the world: London. Here you’ll find plenty of small, independent coffee shops with amazing coffee and stylish interior design. We’ve drunk an insane amount of coffee over the last few months, just to find you some of the best coffee shops in London. Here they are! Happy International Coffee Day!

Nestled in the heart of the ever-trendy Hackney Wick (and a 30 second walk from the overground!) lives Routes Coffee espresso bar. The awesome guys who started the business began by touring the UK in a vintage Bedford Rascal, selling coffee at festivals & events. They’re super passionate about what they do and the shop enjoys a chilled and social atmosphere buzzing with more than just caffeine! The building that houses the coffee shop is also home to a music recording studio and a creative photography space. There’s always plenty going on in the area with a climbing wall, craft brewery, plenty of bars, and the canal just around the corner from the station. Grab a coffee and get exploring!
5 Prince Edward Rd, London E9 5NN // Station: Hackney Wick
You’ll fall in love with this coffee shop before you even taste the delicious coffee. The interior design is great, with lots of details and mint green. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, the food is great and we love their backyard. Clapham Common is a trendy area in South London packed with shops, bars and of course, coffee shops! As an added bonus, Brickwood Coffee & Bread is right next door to one of the best green spaces in London where you can sip on your coffee and watch the world go by.

We love this place! Timberyard is close to vibrant Seven Dials and surrounded by hundreds of shops. A great alternative to Monmouth Coffee (another one of the best coffee shops in London), but without the queues out of the door. Try the pastries and the matcha latte! The second branch is in Old Street, btw.
7 Upper St Martin’s Ln (Tower St and Monmouth St) // Tube: Leicester Square / Covent Garden
This coffee shop is perfectly located by London Bridge, near the incredible Borough Market and The Shard (Europe’s tallest building). Not only is London Grind’s location fantastic, we’re also in love with the wonderful coffee. Sit back, relax and enjoy! If you can’t get enough, make your way to Holborn Grind and Shoreditch Grind too.

Just a short walk from our office (yes!) and in the middle of the fantastic Leather Lane street food market. Prufrock is a coffee shop that has it all: delicious coffee, an inspiring atmosphere and the staff are super friendly. If you have any questions, just ask in the comments below!
23-25 Leather Lane // Tube: Chancery Lane
The coffee is fantastic at the Exmouth Market branch – the food too. Avoid the crowd, especially on a sunny day and take your coffee with you and enjoy the fountains at Granary Square. We also love to sit on the (grass) steps overlooking Regent’s Canal.
1 Granary Square // Tube: King’s Cross
The location in the middle of Soho isn’t the only cool thing about this coffee shop: We’re pretty sure you’ll love the unique interior design and their cute coffee cups as much as we do. Make sure you have one of their awesome flat whites during your London trip.
21 Brewer St, Soho // Tube: Piccadilly Circus
Kaffeine is an authentic Aussie coffee shop, which makes it no surprise that it’s one of the best coffee shops in London. Just off Oxford Street, it’s the perfect place to escape the hordes of shoppers and recollect your thoughts. But the excellent coffee isn’t the only reason why you should go there, enjoy: superb service, great food, cool décor and a relaxed atmosphere.
66 Great Titchfield St // Tube: Oxford Circus
In the middle of trendy Dalston and beyond the rush of tourists, you’ll find this incredibly hip coffee shop. Delightful coffee and vintage décor! Sit outside as long as the weather is good!
31 Stoke Newington Rd., Dalston // Tube: Dalston Kingsland
Cool is an understatement for the TAP coffee shops in London. We love the bike themed style and the coffee – of course. Which one is your favourite? Tottenham Court Road, Wardour Street (next to Oxford Street) or Rathbone Place (close to the British Museum)?
114 Tottenham Ct Rd (at Midford Pl), Bloomsbury // Tube: Warren Street
If you find this cozy Taylor St Baristas branch, you’ll definitely deserve a coffee! Just two minutes away from 20 Fenchurch Street (also known as Walkie Talkie Building with the awesome public Sky Garden), Monument, London Bridge and the River Thames. Great location and some of the best coffee in London!
2 Botolph Alley, London // Tube: Monument
The best things in life are free, right? London’s extraordinary museums are no exception. One of our favourites is the British Museum. But before you explore two million years of human history, make sure you stop at Store St Espresso for their delicious coffee.
40 Store St, London, Greater London, WC1E 7DB // Tube: Goodge Street
A hidden gem with an amazing atmosphere and a big garden in the back. Lovely staff too! We recommend this place if you want to spend a relaxed afternoon between locals and it’s super close to Finsbury Park and the tube station.
35-37 Blackstock Road // Tube: Finsbury Park
